Discover nature in all its splendour on the GRP® Tour de Brière, a hiking route created in the 1980s. This 68km loop will take you through 10 communes in the Brière Regional Nature Park, where you can observe a wide variety of ornithological species such as the white spoonbill, the grey heron and, even rarer, the blackbird. You'll also come across otters, coypu and typical breeds of free-ranging cows.

The Tour de Brière is a 3-day walk, ideal for nature-lovers, keen photographers and walkers looking for relaxation. Along the way, you'll be able to admire the traditional thatched-roof houses that are emblematic of the region and form part of the rich local heritage. You'll often pass along the canals of the Brière marshes, which are still used as waterways by the locals aboard their chalands, the traditional boats that are an integral part of the local landscape.

The long-distance footpath gives you an uninterrupted view of the Brière marshes and its different moods according to the season. In September, when the reeds start to turn golden, or in May, when nature is in full bloom, the Tour de Brière will surprise you with its diversity of flora and fauna. Although this walk requires some hiking experience, it promises to be a unique experience. To ensure your adventure is a success, make sure you're in good physical condition, have suitable equipment and book accommodation in advance.

So don't hesitate, put on your hiking boots and set off to discover the exceptional natural environment of the Brière marshes!
