The Sémaphore de la Taillée offers an incomparable view of the Loire!
It's hard to imagine, but just over a century ago, the Loire, then three times as wide, was stretching out right there at your feet!
The channelling of the river in the 20th century, designed to improve boating conditions, and the development of the banks for industrial and port purposes, are the reasons for this distance.
Today, the land that has been reclaimed from the river is made up of vast meadows bordered by hedgerows and reed beds, protected by law for their environmental value.
Practical information :
- Free access all year round, on foot or by bike.
- Access for people with reduced mobility up to the foot of the work.
- Access limited to two adults at a time.
- Climbing prohibited in the event of rain or strong winds.
