Chemin de la plage, 44600 Saint-Nazaire
Plage de Porcé, a family beach located in the western districts of Saint-Nazaire, close to the university and the Coulée Verte.
Very popular with families, Porcé beach is one of five beaches in Nazaire with lifeguards during the summer season. It's also a great starting point for walks along the Chemin des Douaniers or in the Bois de Porcé.
It is supervised by qualified lifeguards in July and August, from 11.30am to 7pm on weekdays, and from 11am to 7pm at weekends, depending on the tides.

Dogs (except guide dogs), horses and all other animals are forbidden on Saint-Nazaire's supervised beaches from 15 June to 15 September. (Authorised the rest of the year).

According to a 1734 confession, the origin of the name comes from the former port of Ségurand. According to other sources, there is a connection with the Breton name porzh, meaning beach, or with the Latin Portus Caesaris (Source: L'abécédaire des rues de Saint-Nazaire, Université inter-âges).
