LANDSCAPE PARK
The green lung that is the landscaped park, with its groves, expanses of greenery and lake, was made possible by the American soldiers who, in 1917, dammed up the Great Marshes.
The 25-hectare site was filled in in the 1950s with rubble from the ruined town and sand from the Loire.
The site is home to the town's main sports facilities, including La Soucoupe, which has been designated a "20th century heritage site".
The park is planted with a wide range of trees (poplars, maples, conifers, lime trees, etc.) and there are also copses of spontaneous vegetation.
Finally, the riverbanks have been landscaped and a beach for palmipeds has been created.
The landscaped park also stands out thanks to its differentiated management: the area is maintained with respect for the environment and the site's biodiversity.
