Description
A journey back in time awaits you in this thatched cottage as you visit a traditional Brie interior, as you might have seen it around 1900.
Guided tours of La Chaumière Briéronne are available by prior arrangement only.
Dates and times: Every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, at 11am and 3pm.
Furniture, accessories - including a wedding globe - and tools are all faithfully recreated in this unique room. Then head upstairs, where you can see, smell and touch the inside of the thatched roof, and watch a screening of the film Brière et Briérons (1947).
At the entrance to the thatched cottage, there are a number of well-documented panels providing information on the Brière islands and thatched cottages. The commune's Tourist Information Point is also located here, so you'll have all the information you need about the best places to visit in the Brière.
On your way out, walk along the thatched cottage to reach the curée, the ring of water surrounding the island. Illustrated panels tell the story of the Brière through the seasons.
